For the past five years, my sister and I have been fundraising for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in honor of Matthew Ives and other people we've come to know in our community fighting blood cancer.

While blood cancer is still the most prevalent type of cancer in kids and teens, we feel confident that the money we've raised and awareness we've brought through teams Answer to Cancer, Fighting for Families and Hope Squad will ultimately result in better treatments and hopefully a cure.

This year I am participating in the Student Visionaries of the Year campaign for the last time. I am working with other former candidates to lead the 2025 teams to hopefully raise more than $1 million to support LLS efforts in research, advocacy and patient education.
