Team SMILES Students of the Year Fundraiser
I am honored to share that I am a candidate for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Students of the Year campaign. I hope you will support my efforts to help LLS and their mission to ensure access to treatments and ultimately cure blood cancers.
I am competing because I’ve had family members who have been affected by cancer and I’ve met some really amazing people through this foundation that have also been affected, including this year’s honored hero Lukas. Lukas is a 4 year-old local cancer survivor who will be finishing his treatment in June! I want to be a part of the generation that ends cancer, and helps kids like Lukas.
While childhood leukemia has the highest cure rate of any blood cancer, it is still the #2 disease killer among children under the age of 20. This needs to change and I want to be a part of the generation that accomplishes this. That’s why I’m working with LLS to help find a cure!
Here is how you can be part of the cure…
I am competing with several other Student of the Year candidates in Illinois and together we will each put our best fundraising foot forward in honor of all those fighting blood cancer. I am asking you today to join me in this ambitious campaign. I have until March 12, 2022 to reach my goal of raising $40,000.
Your donation will allow LLS to continue funding lifesaving research and support programs for patients and their families. Learn more about LLS and its mission by visiting: www.lls.org.
Please forward this link to others you know and ask them to contribute as well. I have found that so many of the people I talk to about my campaign have a connection to cancer and want to support LLS.
I want to thank you in advance for your generous support.
Sincerely,
Mia Nardello
2022 Students of the Year candidate

Thank you for inviting us to participate in your fund raising campaign! Our families share a connection from years ago. I know my dad, Les, would've been delighted to see your dad as a father and role model for the next generation as he always spoke of him with affection! We'll pray for treatment success for Lukas and an end to childhood Cancer. We send you best wishes for a bright future, Mia, along with well wishes for your family!
