My name is Eva Remijan-Toba, and currently a senior at Lane Tech High School. I am honored to participate as a candidate for the 2021 Students of the Year program. Last year I had the privilege to participate as a team member, and this year, I was eager to return as our team's leader. I have chosen to once again be apart of this campaign because tragically, I have lost both of my beloved grandfathers due to cancer. Years ago, before I was born, my dad's father (top picture) passed away due to lymphoma, and much more recently, my mom's father (bottom picture) passed away due to colon/rectal cancer. The loss of these two remarkable, kind, incredible individuals is truly heartbreaking, and I would never want anyone else to have to endure the pain that cancer can cause. This is why I have made it our team's mission to raise at least $35,000, and to one day have a cancer free world.
