Amanda's Students of the Year Fundraiser
This one is for RBG, Alex Trebek, the Dude, Chadwick Boseman and most importantly my friends who've faced the desolate aftermath of cancer.
7 years ago I started working with colleagues and volunteers who are passionate about curing cancer. At the time, no one in my immediate family or close friend circle had faced cancer. Although I didn't know what it was like to be in their shoes, I was drawn to their resilience. Their ability to pick themselves up when everything had gone to hell. They are warriors I am grateful to have met. These incredibly strong people have taught me that no matter what we have to keep fighting. Fighting for hope, normalcy, life after death, and ultimately a CURE. They have helped me see the light at the end of the tunnel when I experienced my own tradgedy, when I lost my 23 year old stepsister nearly six years ago. Cancer didn't take her life, but just like cancer our lives were forever changed.
I want to see a world where cancer doesn't force people to become fighters or forever fracture our families. I want to stand up and do something about one of the leading causes of death in the US - cancer. It's estimated over 600,000 people in the US will die from cancer in 2020. And most importantly, I want to stand up for my family and friends who have been impacted by this horrible disease.
Even as we face this devastating pandemic, millions of people are still hearing the words "you have cancer." That's why we need to continue funding cancer research and patient programs. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) funds ground breaking blood cancer research, like precision medicine and immunotherapy, that are now helping other cancers and diseases (even COVID-19).
We can continue to fund these programs, but we need everyone to pitch in. Please make a donation today.
When you donate to LLS, you are investing in a cancer-free world. Every facet of LLS’s mission – research, education and support, and policy and advocacy – work in harmony to put blood cancer patients and their families first. Together, we have the power, the passion and the resolve to achieve a world without blood cancer. All donations are tax-deductible.
On behalf of cancer patients and their families everywhere, I sincerely thank you for your support!
