Dear Family and Friends, 

This past August I had the privilege of being nominated as a candidate for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) 2024 Students of the Year Campaign. Students of the Year is a seven-week leadership development program that runs from February 29th   to April 19th to raise money and advocate for LLS. I am writing today to ask for your support of my campaign and LLS’ mission is to find a cure for blood cancers and improve the quality of life for patients. 

I have created a team of committed friends and family to partner with me on this journey. Together, we have set a fundraising goal of $50,000! All the money that is raised goes directly to the largest blood cancer research program in the nation, LLS, to fund cutting-edge research and treatments. In fact, the treatments that LLS is funding benefit non-blood cancer patients too. More than 40% of new cancer treatment drugs approved by the FDA since 2004 started as blood cancer drugs are now being applied in other forms of cancer. 

The profound impact of LLS extends beyond statistics, reaching the lives of individuals and families dealing with blood cancers, as experienced by my own family. In 2021, my brother, Franco Galindo, faced a diagnosis of A.L.L. (acute lymphoblastic leukemia) at the age of 21, just shy of his 22nd birthday. Fortunately, the extensive research and advanced treatments championed by LLS played a pivotal role in supporting him throughout his journey, leading to his victorious battle against leukemia in May 2023. This narrative not only emphasizes the significance of LLS but also highlights the personal triumphs that arise from the crossroads of medical progress and unwavering support. My campaign works towards the support of LLS in hopes that families, like mine, who suffer the effects of blood cancer can have the support and care needed.

I hope one day, I can reach my goal and positively impact the lives of those fighting against blood cancers. My campaign is dedicated to rallying support for LLS, envisioning a future where families, much like mine, affected by cancer, receive the crucial support and care they need. With your assistance, I aim to achieve a goal that will significantly impact the lives of those amid their battle. Your involvement is not just a contribution; it's a powerful force for positive change in the lives of those facing the daunting journey of blood cancer.
