Dear Beloved Friends and Family,
Every day over a million Americans fight a daily battle with blood cancers and many succumb to them. We have been given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to help battle debilitating diseases. My partners, Keira Neville, Tyler Yang, and I, Guneet Brar have been nominated to join the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as a candidate in their inaugural “Student Visionary of The Year” where I would be running a campaign and fundraising for the benefit of others. We are so excited to lead our campaign team and work towards our goal of 50,000 dollars, during the next seven weeks February 29th – April 19th.
We had agreed to run the campaign because we believe we can truly help someone who is battling this disease right now. The face of our campaign is Rebeka Henkelman who is an athletic, kind, and brilliant sophomore at Buchanan High School, where the three of us attend as well. Beka is a fellow bear who is very involved at school and in her community. At school, she is on the volleyball team, and outside of school, she plays soccer with Odyssey. During Her freshman year, Rebeka was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia which meant that she would have to devote her focus to beating cancer. With her determination and strength, Rebeka is now cancer-free and on January 9th, 2024, Beka returned to school to resume her sophomore year.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the largest donor to help fund blood cancer research in the nation. Our job is to honor those who have battled blood cancer by raising money that would help aid in research that is intended to find a cure and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Our job will be to increase awareness about the impact of blood cancers and the cutting-edge treatment that exists and is being developed to improve the lives of others, along with inspiring others to join the fight to find a cure.
Leukemia is a type of cancer that causes more deaths in children under twenty than any other cancer. Our campaign provides an opportunity to support the crucial work of LLS to fight these diseases. to donate online, please visit our fundraising webpage, scan QR code. Aside from donations, we would love to hear from you or someone you know who would be willing to donate goods or services for auction items, sponsorships, ads, or other possible fundraising opportunities.
