Dear Friends & Family,  

All of us probably know someone who has battled cancer and witnessed the awful toll it takes on them and their loved ones- physically, and financially. It’s hard to understand how this disease can still be affecting 1 out of every 3 people, and that all of us will most likely be impacted by cancer in some way, at some point in our lifetimes. Today, we have decided to take a stand against this trend.   We are Gracie Mehling and Jill D’Ambrosio and we are very excited to share with you that we have “signed up to save lives.’ This means that we have accepted our nomination to participate in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year program. Student Visionaries of the Year is a seven-week philanthropic competition for high school leaders seeking to make an impact in the fight against cancer. The campaign kicks off on March 2nd and culminates on April 21st.  

We are juniors at Central High School and some of the things we enjoy are being in the Ag program, helping others, showing leadership and being involved in our community. We are incredibly honored to participate in this program alongside an outstanding group of fellow students. More importantly, we are proud to be part of something that will help bring an end to blood cancer.  

We are reaching out to all our family and friends to ask for their support in reaching our goal to raise $200,000. Not only will your support help us win the competition, but it will also help LLS fuel advancements in cancer treatments that are beginning to benefit patients with many other types of cancer, as well. We hope to be able to link a research grant to our donation in honor of those fighting, everywhere.
