Carley's Students of the Year Fundraiser

Jan 20, 2021

To My Friends, Family and Potential Doners,

I am beyond excited to announce that I have been nominated as a candidate of the 2021 Students of The Year Campaign supporting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS)! LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world, provides free information and support services, and is the voice for all blood cancer patients seeking success to quality, affordable, coordinated care.

Did you know approximately every 3 minutes someone in the U.S is diagnosed with a blood cancer type, and every 9 minutes someone in the U.S dies from blood cancer? This statistic represents approximately 178,520 in a combined U.S total are expected to be diagnosed with one of the three major blood cancers in 2020, and approximately 6 people each hour dies from a blood cancer.  I am honored to participate as a team leader of this seven-week initiative inwhich high school students from around the country participate in raising funds to find a cure for blood cancer.

I am extremely proud to support LLS as a whole in raising critical dollars running my campaign in honor of my grandmother who is a Lymphoma survivor and serves as my hero in support to my campaign! My grandmother Linda Oliveira was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Disease which is a form of Lymphoma in the year of 2001. My grandmother stayed strong during this very hard time in her life that was so unexpected, never gave up. My grandmother started off this battle by getting a lymph node removed, followed by many chemo-therapy treatments, had a PICC line inserted in her arm, underwent many radiation treatments, and had a total of 9 units of blood transfused. Fighting this battle was not anything my grandmother and family ever imagined she would have to go through. After fighting this long battle with lymphoma my grandma Linda in 2007 was announced CANCER FREE!!!!

By raising funds for LLS we have the opportunity to honor patients like my grandmother, Linda Oliveira so that one day others won't have to go through what my grandmother experienced while in treatment. The money we raise goes to LLS in support of their long-standing goal of a world without blood cancer. I am asking for your help to reach my team fundraising goal of 20,000. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation!  My campaign will officially kick off Friday, February 19, 2021 and end on Friday, April 9, 2021.

  • You can make a donation in any amount and mail a check payable to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to my address: 10615 Eucalyptus Rd. Dos Palos, CA 93620 Be sure to note my name, Carley Moore, in the memo portion of the check.
  • You can also make an online donation using the form on the left hand of your screen.

Thank you so much in advance for supporting me in this fundraising opportunity to help the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in finding a cure for blood cancers. I will keep you updated as the campaign goes on!

Let’s Help Beat Blood Cancer Together,

Carley Moore
