DOES CANCER HIT CLOSE TO HOME?

I am very excited to announce that I am raising money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through the Student of The Year campaign. I have been wanting to participate in this fundraiser for the past three years of my high school career and when the Beck family nominated me for the 2021 candidate I couldn't be more excited to say yes. My fundraiser is in honor of Natalia who is the 2021 Honored Hero, who was diagnosed with an Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

Like so many of us as kids we were just innocent, ecstatic, and joyful kids. Well so was Natalia, she was just four years old when after her basketball game she began to feel the pain of leukemia in her legs. Then a couple weeks after Christmas she was dealing with more excruciating pain. When they took her to Valley Children's where she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. During Natalia’s two years of treatment, she had multiple blood transfusions, spinal taps and bone marrow aspirations. On March 17, 2014, Natalia officially completed all chemotherapy.

The money I raise in this fundraiser will go to the Leukemia & Lymphoma society in support of their never ending fight towards a cure for blood cancer. At LLS their mission is to advance treatment options, research, and advocacy. LLS funded more than 60% of the blood cancer therapies being used to treat other cancers and serious diseases including, breast cancer. With the 55 of the 65 FDA approved treatments since 2017 were a result of blood cancer research through LLS.

I start fundraising on February 19, 2021 and will end on April 9, 2021. My fundraising goal is $200,000 but this goal can only be made with the help of your donations and support. This money will go directly to LLS in support of its longstanding goal: a world without blood cancers.
