Brooke's Students of the Year Fundraiser
Dear Friends and Family,
I am here wishing to raise awareness for leukemia and lymphoma. These diseases have touched and continue to touch thousands of families each and every year, rather it be someone close and dear to you, or someone local you might know of.
This year, I have been given the honor of working with The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) on its Students of the Year fundraising campaign, which allows high school students to take on leadership roles in hopes of raising awareness for any type of blood cancers. I am honored to be able to participate in this campaign in the 2021 year. My wonderful team, filled with family and friends, and I have a goal of raising at least $10,000 from March 23th to May 14th.
My team and I have all had close relatives or even close friends that have been affected by cancer. My step dad was diagnosed a few years ago and he has thankfully beat it and is doing great. Being given the opportunity to raise money for a type of cancer had me saying yes.
There are many reasons to be proud to support LLS’s efforts. For instance, approximately 40% of new cancer therapies approved by the FDA between 2000 and 2018 were first approved for blood cancer patients. And many of these LLS- supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are now approved to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers, and noncancerous diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases. They’re even being tested in clinical trials with a range of cancers including lung, bran, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers, and noncancerous diseases such as diabetes and lupus.
To donate online here on my fundraising page!!
Checks can be made out to: The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society with “Brooke Ashmore” in the memo section and sent to me at 111 Terrace Dr. Taft, CA 93268
The deadline for receiving contributions via mail, or via the online link, is May 14th, 2021.
Thank you so much for supporting me in this fundraising opportunity to assist The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in hopes of someday eradicating blood cancers.
Sincerely,
Brooke

Congratulations Brooke, on being selected as a Student of the Year! In 2006, I ran a marathon as a member of an LLS team. I raised money and ran in honor of a family friend who contracted leukemia. He beat it too. LLS is a great organization. Best wishes.
