Autumn's Students of the Year Fundraiser

Mar 18, 2021

Dear Friends and Family,
I have been given the opportunity to help a cause that is close to my heart. Each year The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) launches its Students of the Year fundraising campaign, I am honored to be a candidate for Student of the Year Campaign. Students of the Year is a seven week spirited fundraising campaign which runs March 24th through May 14th 2021, to help support the mission of the LLS in its efforts to find cures for blood cancers and to assist patients and their families.

I could not be more excited to make a difference in the lives of patients across the country! The reason I got involved with Student of the Year was because of my father Mike Moreno. In November of 2017 he was diagnosed with a Lymphoma of the brain. The doctors gave him 5 months but we werehopeful. When mom and dad got the news, these were his words “Let’s Fight.” That is what my parents did, together. We were a close net family and my dad was my world. Our county did not have the resources to treat his cancer so both my parents were sent to Los Angeles for treatment. At that point we were a strong family, divided. A close net family was dealing with many uncertainties. During the 5 months he was sent to four different locations because he couldn’t be cared for here in town. Mom struggled financially to stay with him, support us, and keep her job. The last time I gave my father a hug was on my 12th birthday. The last time I saw him alive and fighting was on Christmas morning of 2017. In March of 2018 we had to do the unthinkable, that was to say goodbye. A family shouldn’t have to bedivided during hard times and worry about anything other than getting better. There are so many families, a family like mine, who can benefit from the funds raised by LLS during campaigns like Students of the Year and I’m asking for your help.

By raising funds for LLS we honor patients and families so that one day others won't have to go through what my family has experienced while in treatment. I am asking for your help to reach our team fundraising goal of $50,000. Not only will it help out so many families but, it will also help me get a grantnamed in my fathers honor. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation!

You can also make a donation online here on my furndraising page!

Should you donate online, you will receive a confirmation of your donation by email and I will be notified as soon as you place your donation. If you would prefer to donate by mail, please make your check payable to: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and print Autumn Moreno in the memo section.

Please feel free to share this message and link with your friends and family. Many may have a connection to cancer and might be moved to contribute to this great cause. Thank you so much in advance for supporting me in this fundraising opportunity to help the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in finding a cure for blood cancers.

Sincerely,
Autumn Moreno

My father died within a month of his diagnosis of brain cancer. It was all such a horrible time with a horrific ending. I wish no one had to go through that, either as a loved one or the suffering patient
