Students of the Year Bakersfield
Reagan Ryan | Reagan Ryan's Campaign Team
Welcome to Reagan Ryan's SOY Fundraising Page!
Dear Family & Friends,
My name is Reagan Williams, and my best friend Ryan Wiggins and I were chosen as candidates for the 2020 Students of the Year campaign for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). This campaign is done in honor of two local children who are battling a blood cancer. This year those two children also known as The Girl and Boy of the Year are GG & JJ. As soon as I found out what LLS did, I immediately wanted to run. This, to me, is an amazing opportunity to help people and families that are affected by cancer. The campaign runs from February 5th to March 27th and our goal is to raise $40,000 in those 7 short weeks.
I have many relatives that have been greatly affected by cancer and I can see how it has taken a toll on not only their lives, but everyone around them. This has pushed me to want to raise money for people who have to go through this, especially knowing that every 3 minutes someone is diagnosed with blood cancer. It is important to that we raise as much money as possible to help with research that could potentially find a cure.
My name is Ryan Wiggins. Throughout my whole life leukemia has taken its toll on myself and my loved ones. When I was 4 I was diagnosed with blood cancer also known as leukemia. I underwent chemotherapy for years and completed my treatment in august of 2010. I have always known that I wanted to have a role in helping other families and children that struggled through similar experiences. This was clear to both my family and myself, even from a young age. My family and I have reached out to families near us in the past who were experiencing the pain of having a child with cancer. I feel like I have a personal responsibility to others to do my part in helping them. The second chance I got has sparked an inspiration in myself to do something with it. So when I was nominated by LLS and discovered a way that I could finally do my part and help, it was the opportunity I was looking for.
The extensive research that LLS has helped fund has helped so many that struggle with leukemia and lymphoma. The fact that LLS has funded 46 of 53 FDA approved treatments since 2017 and the amount of people that LLS has already helped is unbelievable. One of the greatest things about the fundraising that LLS is doing is the fact that even the smallest donation can help.
We have set an incredible goal of $40,000 and we know that with the help of your donations our goal is achievable. Any donation made is 100% tax deductible and will help many people that have been affected by leukemia and lymphoma.
So here is how you can help. You can donate directly to our fundraising website at https://events.lls.org/cca/bfdsoy20/rryany or send a check made payable to LLS to 1800 30th Street Fourth Floor, Bakersfield, CA 93301. Please make sure to include our names in the memo section of the check.
We know that together we can make a difference.
Sincerely,
Reagan & Ryan
