Dear Friends and Family,

It is my honor to announce to you that I have been nominated as a candidate for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) Students of the Year Campaign. For seven weeks starting January 9, 2019 I will be raising awareness of the research, programs, and advocacy being conducted through LLS in addition to funds to support their mission to cure blood cancers. It is my goal during these seven weeks to raise up to $15,000 in order to help patients right here in Kern County.

The LLS mission is to find cures for blood cancers and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS provides research, patient services (includes travel assistance), co-pay assistance, emotional support services and advocates for blood cancer patients on a state & federal level. I am so excited to be given this opportunity which allows me to focus on the greater good in helping those around me. It is amazing already at the work LLS has done, changing the lives of 1.2 million Americans with blood cancer. In fact the treatments that LLS is funding benefits all cancer patients not just those living with blood cancers, and now I am asking you to help make even more of a difference.

As a student, friend, and son, I am committed to this campaign because of the terrible impact that cancer has caused to the lives of my family and friends. The Girl of the Year, Evelyn Verdejo is my inspiration to fight against these horrible diseases. She has been diagnosed with leukemia and she continues to be brave, happy, and full of life throughout her rough treatments.

My wish is that you will join with me and the millions of others in the fight against blood cancers!
