Los Angeles Students of the Year
Amina Hall | The A Team's Campaign Team
Welcome to Amina Hall's SOY Fundraising Page!
Welcome To My Fundraising Page!
I am proud to announce that I am running for 2018 Student of the Year, a contest to see who can raise the most money for the cancer fighting efforts of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).
Student of the Year is a spirited 7-week fundraising competition for high school students. The Los Angeles campaign begins Monday, January 22, 2018 and ends in celebration at our Grand Finale on Friday, March 9, 2018. With your support, my efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that help save lives.
My journey to this campaign began in December, 2016. When everyone else was shopping, erecting Christmas trees, lighting menorahs and otherwise preparing for the holidays, I was reeling from the devastating news that my 7-year-old little sister, Aliya, had been diagnosed with cancer. And not just any cancer, but Acute Myeloid Leukemia, a highly lethal cancer of the bone marrow and blood.
When I got the news, I couldn't believe it. I was in shock and felt powerless. I wanted to do something. Now I can.
Thank goodness, Aliya is now in remission, but we know that her cancer could come back at any time, and that countless others are still fighting, or tragically, have lost their heroic battle.
I am a proud supporter of LLS as their continued advancements over the years are responsible for the blood cancer survival rate doubling, tripling, even quadrupling for certain leukemia subtypes.
And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers. They're even being tested in clinical trials for patients with a range of cancers including lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. LLS-funded drugs are now being tested for patients with other non-cancerous diseases like Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Multiple Sclerosis.
We really are changing the face of blood cancer!
All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS research but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.
Please visit my Web site often and bring friends who would also like to donate!
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere I thank you for your support!

In support of Amina for her little sister Aliya. I know all too well, and have personally witnessed what this horrible disease can do to children (and adults). Praying for help, for support, for a cure, and for Aliya to not only stay in remission but for this disease to be totally eradicated from her body. Amor de la familia siempre.

I lost my dad to cancer when he was 53 years old. My wish is that one day we won’t need to donate because a cure was found! Thank you for raising funds towards making my wish come true.

I'm an old friend of your grandparents, J.D. and Eugenia. My neighbor's son was diagnosed with leukemia when he was only 9 months old. After having a bone marrow transplant a few years ago, he will turn 13 years old this year, thanks to the work of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and City of Hope. You are a remarkable young woman.
