I am honored to participate in the  2019 Students of the Year program, a seven-week initiative in which select high school students from around the country  take part in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). I am proud to represent the Al's Angels legacy team in memory of my best friend's father, Al Jacobellis.  Unfortunately all of us have a personal story to share. My Mom lost one of her best friends, Monique King, to cancer last year.  By raising money for LLS we aid in funding important research that hopefully will cure this devastating disease one day.  Nearly half of all current cancer therapies started off as blood cancer treatments.  Leukemia is the most common form of cancer in children and 1.2 million Americans are currently living with blood cancer.

I am pledging my personal effort and dedication to this cause to provide a fighting chance for others to live fruitful lives.  I want to help work toward finding a cure so that no one else has to lose their father, mother, husband, wife, son, daughter, friend or loved one to this terrible disease.  If we all come together and help fund important research we can continue to make strides, progress and one day find a cure.  In addition to research, funds will also support patient advocacy and ensure access to proper care.  I have personally seen the strength, courage and grace of those stricken with this disease and I want to honor their lives.  We must continue to fight on their behalf.
