I have signed up to save lives with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and am working to raise as much as possible over the next 7 weeks. Did you know? Each day, nearly 5,000 individuals are diagnosed with cancer. Just less than a year ago, someone who I saw as an aunt was diagnosed with cancer. After a few months of battling the disease, she passed away. Watching her condition deteriorate and slowly weaken had been really hard for everyone who was aware--particularly for her family. Even as a distant relative, I was overwhelmed to hear about her situation, especially knowing there was nothing I, or anyone, could do about it; I also could not help but think about the countless other victims of cancer and its impact on their friends and family.

After discovering The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), I was immediately transported back to my aunt. This seven-week fundraising campaign from January 27th to March 18th was a chance for me to contribute to cancer research and treatment. I applied to the program and became a candidate for the 2022 Students of the Year. I created my team, Lauren’s Superheroes, in order to aid those who need our help--and we would appreciate it if you help us reach our goal of $6,000 to help as well.

LLS’s inspiring mission is to “cure Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin's Disease and Myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.” LLS has been the largest funder for blood cancer and have made several breakthrough treatments that have led to progressions in other cancers such as skin and stomach as well. Knowing that LLS has been such a leading factor in saving lives has motivated me to help continue their incredible mission. They have saved numerous lives with their work and if I can prevent others from being impacted from the loss of a loved one such as my aunt, I will. Thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers. And LLS-funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day. We really are getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers!
