I am running for STUDENTS OF THE YEAR because I wanted to be able to make a difference in my community as well as do service that can have an international impact. I also wanted to educate myself more, as well as others, about lymphoma and leukemia since it is a commonly diagnosed disease that affects so many families. Mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, teachers, co-workers, close friends, people we love, are all people who could be potentially negatively impacted by cancer. It does not only affect older demographics and age groups but can also be seen in children and our youth.

I am thankful for receiving this opportunity and that I get to work with so many different people who are all dedicated to creating a hopeful future for all upcoming generations. My team, "Shoot For the Cure", have been such wonderful people to work with, and I am thankful I was able to meet them through LLS. I also want to thank my mentors, Kelly, Sana, and my wonderful mother who have supported me and guided me through this campaign.

I hope that with this cause I can help spread awareness to those in my community and create change. Change starts with us, and it is our job to help fight for it. Let's do this and shoot for the cure!

My name is Joslyn and I am a Junior at Ramona Convent Secondary School. I have signed up to save lives with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and am working to raise as much as possible over the next 7 weeks. Every dollar raised counts as one vote for my campaign. The candidate(s) whose team tallies the most votes earns the prestigious title of Student or Students of the Year. Will you help me earn that title?
 
As you know, everyone wins when cancer loses. Thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.
 
Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS-funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.
 
We really are getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers!
