Caed Ceurvorst | Touchdown For a Cure

Caed's Students of the Year Fundraiser

Jan 17, 2021

Hello to Family and Friends,

This is Caed Ceurvorst and I want to tell you about an opportunity I am very excited about with my good friend Brennan Dragomer. Brennan and I have been best friends since elementary school and share the love of sports. Brennan has asked me to be a part of his team in the fight against Cancer. Both Brennan and I have had loved ones who have battled, and some lost their fight to cancer. Experiencing how difficult these losses can be, we have formed a team to raise money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We hope that with your help we can make a positive difference in the world.

Leukemia causes more deaths in children under twenty than any other cancer. While there is a 90% survival rate currently for children diagnosed with these harmful diseases, we are still losing too many people to this disease. Brennan and I have taken on the incredible mission of being a part of curing not just leukemia, but all cancers. we are participating in a fundraising effort called Student of the Year that runs from January 14 - March 6th. Our team of ten has set an ambitious goal of raising $50,000 in those fast 7 weeks. Funds raised will go to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, whose research benefits all cancer patients. More than 40% of the new cancer treatment drugs approved by the FDA since 2005 started as blood cancer drugs but are now being applied in other forms of cancer. The creativity that is happening in LLS-funded trials is impacting the future, and I am proud to join the battle to cure cancer.

In just a little over a year ago, I lost my grandmother Jane to Melanoma. From the time she was diagnosed to the time she passed was just seven short months. My grandma loved to explore and travel around the world; something I hope someday to accomplish as well. I have also had other family members who have battled and lost the battle to cancer over my lifetime. To witness the impact those family members have had on their family and our extended family is truly profound. The treatments are getting better, but there is still so much work to be done. I am inspired by Brennan and our team’s passion and commitment to making a real change in the world today. I consider it an honor to publicly stand and say I want to fight cancer for all of our loved ones.

Will you join me in supporting the effort to eradicate blood cancer, find innovative treatments for all cancers, and support Brennan, myself and our team by giving a donation to help us reach this ambitious goal? Every gift large and small will truly make a difference. I believe if we work hard, play hard and love all, anything can be achieved!

Andy's legacy was his beautiful family that also continues to fight to find a cure. Andy was quoted as saying "It's not how long, but how well you live!" Thank you Caed for being a brave young man who fights for those in need.

Thank you for going the distance in the student campaign that has a purposeful meaning to you! Grandma Jane would be so proud of you to help the cause for those fighting their infections, as well as keeping her memory alive. I know you don’t know of me. Someday we will meet once again and talk about how your drive helped the cure.
