Hello my name is Sierra Brogmus and I am a high schooler that has been nominated by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS.org) as part of their Student of the Year program. I want to make a huge difference in the lives of patients who suffer from Cancer. My mom knows the pain of losing her father to Lymphoma when he was only 56. My grandfather was an amazing man, he worked for JPL, AT&T, and Standford University. He helped build what we now call the internet! I have so much of his passion for math and family and wish I could have shared that with him.  Because he passed from cancer that meant I never got a chance to know him and bond with him.

I want to help others have a better chance at surviving cancer so families can be blessed with living a long life together. 

The good news is that because of the progress made by research, like that supported by LLS, blood (and other) cancer survival rates are increasing.  My grandma, now in her 90's is a testimony to that success. She has had 3 bouts of lymphoma, but is now cancer free and is more energetic than many 40-year-olds! 

Curing cancer and preventing the pain to patients and their families are two of the main reasons I am passionate about this campign.  Another reason is that back in 2017, I had the privilege, joy, and thrill of seeing kids enjoy concerts I perfomed with KIDZ BOP. I really loved to see families so happy and enjoying life together but when I learned that Leukemia is the most common childhood cancer I was very saddened. As wonderful as it was to to see kids enjoy our concerts, the thought of saving the life of one of those precious children became a goal I wanted to help with.  So these are the reasons why I want to fight cancer!
