My name is Emilia Jordan and I am a junior at California High School of the Arts. Last year, my grandmother passed at the age of 92. She was diagnosed with Lymphoma that developed into Leukemia. Growing up, I watched her battle cancer with such strength and courage and it inspires me to be a stronger and more courageous person every day. My grandmother was one of millions that have battled with blood cancer, and an estimated 886,000 Americans are diagnosed each year. The sad truth is, those affected most by Leukemia and Lymphoma are between the ages of 2 to 3. 

This has inspired me to accept my nomination as a Student of the Year Candidate for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). It is a ten week fundraiser campaign that lasts from january through march. My team is called Stronger Together and we want you to help us to our fundraising goal of $75,000. 

Why LLS you ask? Well LLS has pumped over $1 Billion into cancer research and finding a cure. Over the past ten years, over HALF the cancer treatments and drugs for Leukemia and Lymphoma have come from LLS funded research.
