Dear Friends,

We’re very excited to be participating in the 2022 Leukemia &Lymphoma Society Student of the Year campaign with our granddaughter Peyton Viane. Our  team, Baking for a Cure, will be working to raise money and awareness for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society over the next 7 weeks, February 17th -April 8th.                                                     

Funds raised will go to the Leukemia & Lymphoma  Society whose research benefits  all cancer patients and their mission to find a cure for blood cancer.  More than 40% of new cancer treatment drugs approved by the FDA since 2005 started as blood cancer and now being applied to other forms of cancer. Leukemia causes more deaths in children under the age of twenty than any other cancer.  

It’s an honor to be part of this fundraising mission, but even a larger honor is to be able to work for the patients,  survivors and their families.  We all know or have heard how deadly cancer can be. Peyton’s friend is currently battling Leukemia. We personally know a young girl who has been battling Leukemia with chemotherapy for over a year but is now in remission. Also, an adult family member of ours suffering with Leukemia for years was able to take cancer drug medication to keep it under control.  The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has benefited not only these patients but all cancer patients. You can truly make a difference in the lives of people affected by blood cancer by being part of funding cancer research and treatments.

Our personal goal is to raise $7,500.00 between February 17th and April 8th. Peyton’s team goal is to raise $100,000 over the 7-week fundraising period.  It’s a lofty goal but we’re going to do everything we can to achieve it.
