Leukemia causes more deaths in children under twenty than any other cancer. While there is a 90% survival rate currently for children diagnosed with leukemia, we are still losing too many people to this terrible disease. Our team Cancer Curesaders has taken on the incredible mission of being a part of curing not just leukemia, but to cure all cancers. We are  participating in a leadership development program and fundraising competition called Student of the Year that runs from April 5th- May 22nd. 

Our team has set an ambitious goal of raising $10,000 in those fast 7 weeks, and I personally have set a goal of $2500l! All funds raised will support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, whose research is making strides in treatments across the cancer spectrum. In fact, nearly 50% of all new cancer treatment drugs approved by the FDA since 2005 first began as blood cancer treatment, and are now being used to treat other forms of cancer! The creativity that is happening in LLS-funded trials is impacting the future, and I am proud to join the battle to cure cancer.

Cancer has affected my family in a number of ways. I have seen first hand the way that cancer affects not only the patients, but the loved ones around them. This has motivated me to be a part of an effort that can help bring relief to so many families that have felt these detrimental and devestating effects first hand.  

Our team is motivated by knowing that we will be helping others and having a real, tangible impact on cancer research. The treatments are getting better, but there is still so much work to be done. I am so inspired by our team’s passion and commitment, and I have pledged to help support our team in any way that I can!
