Garrett's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser

Jan 09, 2025

I'm honored to be a part of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign through my initiative, Team Rockin' Leukemia.

This campaign is deeply personal to me. In 2010, at the age of one, I lost my biological father, Todd Larsen, to complications from Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. His journey showed me how critical patient education and support are during such a challenging time. That’s why I’ve made it my mission to ensure that families affected by blood cancers have access to the resources and care they need.

The Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign is one of LLS’s most impactful programs, led by students like me who are committed to making a difference. Last year alone, SVOY participants raised over $10 million nationwide to fund LLS’s mission. This helped provide patient education, critical support services, and financial assistance to families in need. It also fueled lifesaving research that has contributed to the approval of over 75% of FDA-approved blood cancer treatments since 2017.

By supporting Rockin' Leukemia, you’ll help provide families affected by blood cancer with critical resources, ensuring no one faces their journey alone. Your donation will directly support programs that educate patients, deliver personalized support, and empower caregivers with the tools they need.

Every dollar makes a difference. Together, we can create a world without blood cancers and provide hope to families impacted by these diseases. Please join me in this mission by donating today.

Thank you, Garrett, for driving this forward in honor of your dad. Our son, Trey Mooney, had AML in 2024 and fought so hard for 11 months. He was blessed with a wonderful stem cell donor but after three months the transplant failed. Trey left behind two son, ages 8 and 5, and an amazing wife. The Mooney family will continue to fight along side of you and so many others in supporting the LLS. God bless you and all who are in the fight now. Liz Mooney
