Dear Friends and Families,

Cancer causes about 1 in 6 deaths worldwide, as another person joins the fight every few minutes. There is no doubt that it is a concern worldwide, let alone in our communities. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society gives me a unique opportunity to advocate for a cause that is not only close to my family but to the greater community. LLS allows determined high schoolers like me to start building compassionate relationships that put patients and families at the center of everything we do.

Hi, my name is Pranathi Yernena, and I have the privilege of being nominated as a candidate for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's 2024 Greater Phoenix Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign. I am a junior at Scottsdale Preparatory Academy. I heard about LLS through Sasha Anand, my team mentor and a current Student Ambassador. My team, Not in Vein, is determined to support the critical work of LLS in hopes that no family will suffer the loss of a loved one. My co-candidates, Samantha Quinones and Manavi Voorakarnam, and I are beyond excited to make a positive impact on the Phoenix community! Our campaign this year is in recognition of our honored hero, Morgan Gonzales, who has survived peripheral T-cell lymphoma and is currently cancer-free! She has endured numerous treatments and surgeries, including a bone transplant in 2019. She is resilient and kind-hearted, and I am looking forward to working with her as we strive to make a direct impact on the fight against blood cancers.

We appreciate everyone who supported us throughout our 7-week-long campaign; you are changing the world one donation at a time!

Pranathi's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser

Visionaries look to the future—and see infinite possibility.
They challenge the status quo—and make the impossible possible.
They boldly imagine a better world – and lead the charge to create it.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was built on that same vision - of a better world - one without blood cancers.

I am a visionary; I have a vision for a world without cancer, but I need your help.

This year, I’m proud to be a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, working to raise as much as possible for LLS’s mission.

As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:

  • Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
  • Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
  • Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.

Please consider joining this fight by making a donation. All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!

Thanks to your support, my efforts will help ensure this generation is the last to see cancer.

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you!
