Hello! Thank you so much for visiting my page. I am Sammy Field, and I am honored to be running for the 2020 Students of the Year program with my two co-candidates, Ella Vitti and Lauren Yeung. The Student of the Year program is a seven-week initiative in which select high school students from around the country participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I am so excited to be given the opportunity to not only help those directly or indirectly affected by cancer but to spread cancer awareness. I am a Sophomore at Arcadia High School and am a very involved student. I am involved in various sports and activities that which include; tennis, boxing, trap and sporting clay shooting, and charity work. I am very committed to my community and love helping people. I am embarking on this opportunity because cancer sadly affects such a massive amount of people a year and I am determined to be apart of the cure. I know in my heart that this goal is attainable. I've seen how it has affected not only my family but other families around me aswell. My great grandmother, Illona Roth, passed away January 25th, 1988 of Leukemia. She truly fought a brave battle and was amazing until the very end. My grandma, Margaret Bartrom, also died of lung cancer when my mom was only 19, and it was devastating to my entire family. In her honor, my full name is Samantha Margaret Field. Since the early 1960s, five-year survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled or even quadrupled. And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are helping patients with other cancers and serious diseases. In fact, drugs first approved for blood cancers are now approved to treat patients with stomach cancers, skin cancers, and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis. We really are changing the face of blood cancer! 

All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. Funds raised not only support LLS-funded research but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need.
