This past October, I had the privilege of being nominated as a candidate for the LLS (Leukemia & Lymphoma Society) 2021 Students of the Year Campaign. Students of the Year is a seven-week leadership development program that runs from January 20^th to March 10^th to raise money and advocate for LLS.  I am writing today to ask for your support of my campaign and LLS's mission to find a cure for blood cancers and improve the quality of life for patients. Every dollar raised counts as one vote for my campaign. The candidate whose team tallies the most votes earns the prestigious title of Student or Students of the Year. Will you help me earn that title?

I have created a team of committed friends and family to partner with me on this journey. Together, we have set a fundraising goal of $50,000! All the money that is raised goes directly to the largest blood cancer research program in the nation, LLS, to fund cutting-edge research and treatments. The treatments that LLS is funding benefit non-blood cancer patients too. More than 40% of new cancer treatment drugs approved by the FDA since 2004 started as blood cancer drugs are now being applied in other forms of cancer.

The reason I felt lead to participate in the Students of the Year campaign is to grow awareness about blood cancer in my community. Also, to fundraise and help others through tough times that no one should experience. Through fundraising and a lot of prayer I believe we can make a difference in many lives around us. “…pray one for another, that ye may be healed...” James 5:16 KJV.I This is an incredible opportunity and worthwhile challenge God is calling me to! I am competing in this campaign so that hopefully, in my lifetime, we can see the day that blood cancer is beat! I know that with your help, I can reach my goal and make a direct impact in the fight against blood cancers. 

As you know, everyone wins when cancer loses. Thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.
