I am honored to say that I have been nominated as a candidate for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Students of the Year campaign. I ask for your support in my efforts to help LLS in its mission to ensure access to cures and treatments for blood cancers. My mother was diagnosed with multiple myeloma nearly two years ago and is now in complete remission. I truly believe her positive result to treatment was assisted by the mission of LLS. It is my sincere goal to help further the efforts of LLS so others can be given the same miracle that my mother received. I am competing with several other Students of the Year candidates in the region and together we will each put our best fundraising foot forward in honor of local blood cancer survivor Bryant Lay, this year’s Honored Hero.

There are many reasons to be proud to support LLS’s efforts.  For instance, since 2017 the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved an astounding 51 blood cancer treatments and LLS helped advance 45 of these.  Many of these LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are now approved to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers, and noncancerous diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases.  LLS funds groundbreaking immunotherapies, which are saving the lives of patients who otherwise would have succumbed to their disease. Immunotherapies are also leading the way to a world without chemo.

My campaign is all about dollars raised. Each dollar that me and my team raise, counts as a vote.  I have between January 23rd and March 13th to reach my goal. In addition, all donations are 100% tax deductible. I hope you can find it in your heart to help me in my fight against this dreadful disease.
