Welcome to Team Procure 2.0's SOY Fundraising Page!

Jan 06, 2018

Hello, we are Team ProCURE, welcome to our fundraising page! Zainab Nasir is currently a sophomore at Lynbrook High School and Nicole Gou is a sophomore at Saint Francis High School. We are honored to be supporting the 2017 Students of the Year program as a Campaign Team Members. This campaign is a seven-week initiative in which select high school students from around the country participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We have created a team with Alisha Gupta, Alisha Chulani, Aneesha Nema, Amanda White, Arwa Neemuchwala, Nisha Fernandes, Julie Lee, Amy Tse, Siya Sharma, Wynna Huang, and Keerthana Vinay.

To procure means to obtain something with care and effort. Similarly, through this campaign, we wish to support LLS in their ultimate goal to obtain a cure for cancer.

We have both had direct relations with those who have suffered from Leukemia and Lymphoma. One of Nicole’s closest friends was diagnosed with cancer in middle school. She had the opportunity to accompany her during her treatments, and one thing she noticed was that her friend had portrayed positivity and perseverance throughout her battle, which sparked Nicole to inspire and impact others in the same way her friend did. Zainab’s uncle was recently diagnosed with leukemia this year, and seeing the pain, worry, and support throughout her family, Zainab didn’t want anyone else go through the same thing. She wanted to motivate others to take your bad experiences in life, and make a difference.

We are dedicating this campaign to making a difference in the lives of all of those who are suffering from blood cancer. We believe that all of us have some sort of connection to cancer. Whether it’s yourself, or a friend or family member, all of us are impacted. This is the reason we are determined to take on this challenge. We want to make a difference to those affected by cancer and offer support and hope for their friends and families.

So how can you help? Each dollar donated counts as a vote. The candidate team who raises the most money at the end of the six weeks is named Student of the Year. Our mission is to not only raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers like Leukemia. Donating and sharing this team page will help us reach this goal!

Since the early 1960s, five-year survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled or even quadrupled. Many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are now approved to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers, and noncancerous diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases.  They're even being tested in clinical trials for patients with a range of cancers including lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers, and noncancerous diseases such as diabetes and lupus.

LLS is really changing the face of blood cancer and you can be a part of it!

All donations are greatly appreciated and tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS-funded research but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.

Please visit our website often and bring friends who would also like to donate!

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, we thank you for your support!
