2018 ATX Students of the Year
Kade Carnes | Kade, Austin & Logan's Campaign Team
Welcome to Kade Carnes' SOY Fundraising Page!

My friends and I are dedicating our volunteer hours this year to work on a fundraising campaign for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). We are honored to be nominated for the 2018 Student of the Year campaign by LLS, representing Lake Travis High School.
We decided to do this because LLS is focused on finding cures for those affected by blood cancers. At first, none of us thought we knew anyone who had a blood cancer. Turns out we were wrong. We asked around and used Facebook to find out if anyone we knew had been affected. This is much closer to home than we thought.
Here are some of the responses we got from our friends and family. This is very important!
- “My friend from high school, her younger brother passed away from leukemia, he was in middle school.”
- “Our nephew was diagnosed with leukemia at 2 and went into remission at 9. He is now 16 and doing well!”
- “My mom had a stem cell transplant about ten years ago due to an aggressive mantle cell lymphoma. It was a very tough time but she fought through. She had several experimental treatments which were likely funded in part by LLS. So thanks in advance to Logan, Kade, and Austin.”
With your help, we can make a really big difference for our family, friends, neighbors, and community. We can’t wait to see how our campaign turns out, so THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU in advance for your support.
We are TEAM LAKE TRAVIS. The seven-week campaign will commence on January 11, 2018 and end with a Grand Finale Celebration on March 2nd, where Austin’s Student of the Year will be announced. Every dollar counts as a “vote” towards our campaign and the team with the most “votes” will be named the winner. Not only that, but we will also have made a HUGE impact for those affected by blood cancer.
Students from other high schools, including Westlake, Round Rock, and Dripping Springs are also competitors, so I ask that you give in whatever capacity you feel comfortable with to help team LAKE TRAVIS show that our community can give back! Also, feel free to check with your company to see if they have a matching donation program such as Benevity.
Any amount you can donate to our team is much appreciated and will make a difference in people’s lives!

My roommate in college, Ryan Smith, lost his momma within 2 weeks of diagnosis. Although she passed I witnessed first hand the destruction it had on the family but also their interest and support of finding change, cure and support.
