2018 ATX Students of the Year
Clara & Hasie Sherman | Clara & Hasie Sherman's Campaign Team
Welcome to Clara & Hasie Sherman's SOY Fundraising Page!
We need your help with something very close to our hearts, but before we get into the details, we would like to share a little bit about why this means so much to us-- and why we know it will to you too.
Although great strides have been made in battling blood cancer in the last five years, one blood cancer that remains elusive to treatment is multiple myeloma. In fact, we lost our dear family friend, Jan Hughes, to this disease in 2011. Jan was a beautiful and vibrant wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many and was taken much too young.
When we were nominated to participate in the 2018 Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Students of the Year fundraiser -- to raise funds for blood cancer research, we didn't hesitate. The Students of the Year fundraiser is a 7 week Campaign run from January 11th – March 2nd and our main goal throughout all this is to be able to name a multiple myeloma research grant in Jan’s memory. This is where we need your help. Any donation, large or small, is your pledge to help us achieve the goal of a world without blood cancer. Blood cancer research has led to treatments for many other kinds of cancer, which benefits all of us.
You can also help by passing this information along to anyone you know who might join us in raising funds to fight blood cancer, either because they knew and loved Jan, or because they have been affected by a loved one’s cancer battle.
The long term goal of LLS is a world without cancer. A world where no other family has to hear the words, "You have multiple myeloma. You have Lymphoma. You have Leukemia. You have cancer."

Not only is it time to find a cure, but time to find a cure that lessens the life long effects of being a survivor of cancer. The real goal is a safer cure for cancer for all who are affected.
