My name is Rahi Patel and I am a candidate for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) 2018 Students of the Year Campaign. This seven-week, spirited fundraiser, raises life-saving funds for blood cancer research. As the world’s largest, non-profit, health organization, LLS is dedicated to finding cures for blood cancers and what they do for patients and families is unbelievable.

In 2017, LLS provided over $1,036,000 in patient services in the Palm Beach Area. Nationally, LLS funded 254 research grants and $46 million in new research to find cures, which lead to dozens of new blood cancer therapies. We truly are changing the face of blood cancer!

LLS's continued advancements over the years, are responsible for the blood cancer survival rate doubling and tripling; in some cases, the survival rate has even quadrupled.

And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers. They're even being tested in clinical trials for patients with a range of cancers including lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. LLS funded drugs are now being tested for patients with other non-cancerous diseases like Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Multiple Sclerosis.

We really are changing the face of blood cancer!
