Welcome to Hailey Kennedy's SOY Fundraising Page!

Jan 20, 2018

Welcome To My Fundraising Page.

Please join me in supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) by making a donation to my fundraising campaign. Thanks to your support, my efforts, will help fund the therapies and treatments that helped save my life and will save many others fighting blood cancers.

LLS's continued advancements over the years, are responsible for the blood cancer survival rate doubling and tripling; in some cases, the survival rate has even quadrupled.

During the next 7 weeks I will be working to fundraise $50,000 to help fund the amazing research being done by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and I am running for their student of the year in honor of all of my friends I have lost to this awful disease. If I raise the most money I will recieve the title Student of the Year and will also receive a $5,000 scholarship! Five years I experienced what hearing the words "You have cancer" really sound like first hand and what it can do to a family. I watched cancer take away some of the most important people in my life and I told myself that whenever I had the chance that I would stop it. I am now 4 years cancer free and every year I celebrate being cancer free is another year I am more and more motivated to make sure that other kids like me get to hear those words as well.

While I was at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee I met a young girl named Breanna Bercegeay who had also just been diagnosd with AML Leukemia. She was only 11 years old even younger than me at 13, but we still shared so much in common. I like to say that the day I met Bree was the day I found my long lost sister. We traveled our long cancer journey together through all of the ups and downs which there were a lot of downs. Breanna was one of the stronegst, kindest, and wisest people I had ever met and only 11 years old. She like me saw her cancer as a way to make a difference and help others like her, she inspired people from all over the world to stand up and make a change. Sadly on October 2, 2014, Breanna lost her battle with cancer but still her efforts live on. Breanna was taken from this earth far too soon, but her message lives on, and she continues to inspire me everyday.

I used to wonder why I was still here and why I had to go through this awful journey, but I realized that know one could ever give me the answer I was looking for. So I decided to create my own, the reason I am still here is because I was supposed to tell the stories of those who no longer can. My life may have taken a different path, one that I would have never imagined but I wouldn't change it for the world. I have learned to appreciate everyday we get, because each day is a gift.

Now you have learned why I am so imspired to make a change and why I want to see the end of cancer. You may not share my same experiences with cancer or have even  had cancer affect you, but I garentee someone around you has, so please help me share my story and the story of Breanna and help me prevent this from happening. A nice new car that youve been saving up for, or that new pair of shoes you saw in the store window, none of those things will ever give you the same feeling as knowing that you were a part of the change that saved lives and Ended Cancer!

We really are changing the face of blood cancer!

All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS research but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.

Please visit my Web site often and bring friends who would also like to donate!

On behalf of Breanna, Ciera, Chelsea, Vladimire, Dominic, Rose, and Maddy help me make a diference and tell their stories! Lets make sure that more people like them are able to tell their own stories one day. Lets LIGHT THE WAY, and FIND A CURE!
