Please join me in supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) by making a donation to my fundraising campaign. Thanks to your support, my efforts, will help fund the therapies and treatments and help save lives today.

My name is Donella Romano, and I am a Junior at Palm Beach Central High School in Wellington, Florida.

At 11 years, old I lost my hero, best friend, my grandfather to a horrible disease called AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia), which is a quickly progressive malignant disease in which there are too many immature blood-forming cells in the blood and bone marrow. After two years of intensive and isolating treatments he lost his battle with AML in 2012. Even though he is no longer with me, he is still my best friend and I have worked to continue his legacy, raise awareness for this life changing illness, and raise money for charities and societies much like The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

In addition to my experiences with my grandfather, I know many of you have witnessed first-hand the debilitating effects that leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma can have on those who suffer from these blood cancers as well as the friends and family who care for and nurture their loved ones. I am constantly being reminded of this horrible disease and I could not think of a more perfect way to honor him and other people than by participating in LLS Student of the Year 2018.

From January 18^th to March 9^th I am hoping that I can achieve my goal of $15,000.00 for my campaign for LLS Students of the Year with the help of your donation. This is a 7-week campaign. All of the money that I raise will go directly to LLS in support of its longstanding mission of funding critical advancements that are changing the face of blood cancers.
