Hi everyone thank you for visiting my page and hearing a little of my story about this platform I am currently fundraising for! I have experienced a loss of a loved one due to cancer on multiple occasions but for the sake of this fundraiser and not talking your ear off, or making your eyes blur because of oversharing I wanted to do this fundraiser and event in memory of my Uncle Nicholas J. Becker (Nick) who passed away from multiple myeloma on February 13, 2012. 

Uncle Nick was a laid back, got along with everyone type of person who just loved life and tried not too stress the little stuff.  He was an avid biker and runner and a lover of his family, dog, Mocha, drinking a good beer and listening to great music. We had a game we used to play when Uncle Nick and his family would travel up from St  Louis to Chicago where we each got to pick three songs to play for everyone and get to listen to a  variety of music and maybe find a new favorite song! It was always a great time when the Nick Becker’s and Pete Becker’s got together. 

Unfortunately as active as Uncle Nick was his body developed cancer in the form of multiple myeloma and it was a shock to all of the family when we learned his diagnosis. For me it was hard to hear this and thought why my uncle, he’s a good man and not to mention young, and in decent shape.  It was truly heartbreaking and to this day I get emotional about it because I honestly miss my uncle and his witty ways. 

Anyways to get to the point, my uncle loved biking and this is a bike race kind of thing to help raise awareness for cancer. So I thought well isn’t this a great way to share his memory and be able to participate in a fight for people who can’t physically themselves or in other words are fighting a different fight?!

I am beyond grateful for this opportunity and am grateful to you and your support to helping raise awareness and funds for the Leukemia  and Lymphoma Society in honor of my uncle and all the others who are being raced for. Again anything from a penny to an infinite amount of your choosing is awesome and something to be thankful for! So thank you in advance and hope you continue to have a great day everyday!!!!

LLS's continued advancements over the years, are responsible for the blood cancer survival rate doubling and tripling; in some cases, the survival rate has even quadrupled.

And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers. They're even being tested in clinical trials for patients with a range of cancers including lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. LLS funded drugs are now being tested for patients with other non-cancerous diseases like Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Multiple Sclerosis.

We really are changing the face of blood cancer!
