2016 GREAT NORTHERN HORSE ADVENTURE
Join me on the trip of a lifetime as I, Vern Herrst, will attempt to ride horseback from Newport, WA to Howell, MI for a total distance - according to several map sources - of 2200 miles. In honor of this distance, I have set a personal goal to raise $2200 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
A little bit about myself: as stated above, my name is Vern Herrst. I am a 66 year old retired male retired having served in the US Navy for 22 years as a Hospital Corpsman (medical). After retiring from the Navy I worked as a Packer/ Guide for several local outfitters in the Methow Valley, where I got my packing experience being able to feel at ease about taking this trip. I have been diagnosed with Myloproliferative Disorder, and am currently receiving treatment through the Oncology Department of Wenatchee Valley Medical Center, so this trip is one that I feel can't be put off for a couple of years because honestly there might not be a couple of years and as the saying goes I'm not getting any younger so why wait til old age?
