On January 30th I will be climbing for a cure in the 8th Annual Big D Climb to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The Big D Climb is reaching new heights -- the climb is now 70 flights up the steps at the Bank of America in downtown Dallas! It is fitting that we have a few more flights to climb this year—I will cherish each extra step because I am climbing in honor of my dear, sweet “sister in survival” – Lola Hope Duncan. After turning 3 years old, Lola Hope was diagnosed with leukemia and is currently undergoing treatment. As I told her and her mama, my friend Courtney, Lola Hope walked in a survivor with an invisible cape. Every step of the way, I will be thinking of Lola Hope knowing that we will climb together as survivors one day! Having recently celebrated my 10th year blood cancer-free, I climb for LLS in the hope of helping Lola Hope, and others just like her, reach this same milestone.
I will be climbing alongside fellow teammates and we are all unified by the same purpose; we are climbing to save lives! With every flight we climb and every dollar we raise, we are helping the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society realize its mission to “Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.”
It is my wish that the money I raise will fund lifesaving research that will help countless others in their survivorship journeys. I will climb that last flight on January 30th, with Lola Hope in my heart, knowing that I have a made a difference in the fight against cancer, and I will need your help to reach the top.
By making a donation to support my climb, you can help raise funds for lifesaving research and patient services programs. No donation is too big or small!
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere I thank you for your support!
