National Capital Area Students of the Year

The Healing Huskies

Welcome to Team Healing Huskies' Fundraising Page!

Jan 19, 2017

Julie Ellison and Hannah Zobair are two tenth graders at Flint Hill School who are honored and very excited to be apart of the 2017 Students of the Year program as Campaign Team Members. This is a six-week campaign for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We are raising money to help the millions of people that are suffering from these terrible illnesses. Our mission is to not only raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers like leukemia, which is the number one killer of children under the age of 20.

Since the early 1960s, five-year survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled or even quadrupled. And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are now approved to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers, and noncancerous diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases. They're even being tested in clinical trials for patients with a range of cancers including lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers, and noncancerous diseases such as diabetes and lupus.

All donations are greatly appreciated and tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS-funded research but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.

Please visit our website often and share it with everyone!

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere we thank you for your support!

Thank you for what you doing. My father passed away from lymphoma (atypical) and I spent the month of December helping him 11 years ago. We were at the hospital all day! He lost his struggle on Friday, Jan 13th. It was not a lucky day for an Irishman. I will never forget as my dad was saying the rosary when I entered his room that day. He knew. Love you Daddy! Thank you Krissy and your classmates, Keep it going - proud of what you are doing!

So proud of the work these young kids are doing to bring awareness to childhood cancer. I believe in the power of kids helping kids and know their passion and determination will make a huge positive impact. Don't make this a one time effort, but instead a life long mission to end cancer for all children.
