What:  The Student of the Year Campaign is a six-week initiative in which nominated High School students participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Georgia Chapter.  Candidates will raise money in honor of a child patient hero who is currently battling or is in remission from a blood cancer.  The candidate who raises the most money at the end of the six weeks is named Student of the Year.  The campaign will launch on January 14, 2016 and will culminate with a Grand Finale Gala celebration on February 26, 2016 where the winners will be announced.

Win: The Student of the Year will receive a $5,000 scholarship toward the college or university of his/her choice. The Citizenship Award winner will receive a $500 scholarship towards the college or university of his/her choice. Every candidate who reaches the minimum fundraising requirement of $10,000 will receive a $1,000 scholarship.

Why: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services.  Our mission:  To cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life for our patients and their families.  Over 78% of every dollar donated to LLS is dedicated to research, patient services, education and advocacy.  Since its founding in 1949, LLS has invested more than $875 million in research to advance therapies and to save lives.
