Welcome To MAGGPIE's Fundraising Page!
Four years ago I (Maggie) was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma and was immediately submersed into the unfamiliar world of cancer. Initially I was confused, scared and everything seemed foggy. After a very quick 2 weeks full of appointments, tests and some answers I felt focused. I was in the midst of moving Maggpie and my whole life to Philadelphia, I didn’t have time for cancer. I was given the break down of what to expect for the next 6-8 months and all I could think was, “let the countdown begin.
Over these months I was introduced to a world I had my assumptions about and as I met patient after family after survivor this whole experience became so much more than me being sick and how quickly I can get through it. It was borderline embarrassing for me to say I had cancer, to put myself in this category with people and their families who were suffering with an unknown road ahead of them. People who were fighting for their lives, beating the odds and becoming true survivors while I just lost my hair. It didn’t feel fair for me to ever have the chance to call myself a survivor while I just felt like a spectator the whole time.
I can’t help but think that there was a reason why I was given that experience, one that I am very grateful to have had. It taught me maybe more than I can ever explain but one thing I know for sure is it taught me that I can use my experience to help and that’s what we intend to do. I am beyond proud to begin our campaign benefitting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and those in need. Over the next few days we’ll be talking about how we’re getting involved and how you can too!
To kick off our campaign we wanted to spread a little love, 12 months to be exact and who better to help us than Marty & Henry. We’re selling desk calendars and donating the profits to LLS. >>Head over to our website to purchase a calendar & make your donation! If you don't want a calendar (no offense taken!) you can simply make a donation directly from this page.
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere I thank you for your support!
