Welcome To Our Team Corduroy's Fundraising Page
I Bruce Fields am the team captain. Almost 20 years ago when I first joined the local ski club I used to wear corduroys often, so my nickname became Corduroy Guy. This year I decided to actually raise funds for the event which in the past I was simply a volunteer. We have just my daughter Abby and her friend Jordann on the team.
We are a small team of three and would like a fourth to join us to help us reach our goals! We need one more good volunteer.
When I was about 4 or 5 years old my uncle Lloyd had battled leukemia and after a 5 year battle finally succumbed to it. Since he lived in Long Island, NY I rarely saw him. Once when my parents visited my aunt and her newer husband, I noticed a picture of my aunt with him and I found out that the uncle I knew then was not the same one I became to know in the past. Then I found out my cousins had different names then their mom's last name. I had no idea of his 5 year battle or that he even died. I assumed the man I saw was the father of my cousins. I then heard a lot about him that I never really knew. I would have liked to have known him as I heard he was pretty great. It is amazing the work that has been done in medicine since the late 1950's in this field. Back then it was almost a miracle he lasted 5 years and today it is not so unusual.
Please join us in supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) by making a donation to our fundraising campaign. Thanks to your support, our efforts, will help fund the therapies and treatments and help save lives today.
LLS's continued advancements over the years, are responsible for the blood cancer survival rate doubling and tripling; in some cases, the survival rate has even quadrupled. And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers. They're even being tested in clinical trials for patients with a range of cancers including lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. LLS funded drugs like Gleevec, Sprycel, Arinza, Tasigna and Zolinza are now being tested for patients with other non-cancerous diseases like Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Multiple Sclerosis.
All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS research but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.
Please visit my Web site often and bring friends who would also like to donate!
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere we thank you for your support!
