Ginger’s Story
Welcome friends of the McNally family. This Spring, Ginger went to work part time as a Patient Care Secretary at The Cancer Institute at the Hershey Medical Center (CI). The family feels that she was led there by God's hand. On the morning of July 30th she clocked out only to return later that afternoon as a patient. Following a brief period of symptoms (shortness of breath, dizziness) blood tests revealed that she has Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). We are encouraged that the bone marrow biopsy revealed that she does not have the most aggressive strain of AML and we are anxiously awaiting the results of the chromosomal test which will dictate her future course of treatment and prognosis. In the meantime, she has been released home after 10 days in the hospital (seven receiving her initial round of chemo) and one brief return visit to control a bothersome infection. She handled the first round well. While we live day by day we must plan for many trips to the hospital for treatment and then monitoring over the next weeks and months. We are thrilled with the care she is receiving. We are strong in faith and prepared for whatever path HE sends us on. We also know we won't walk it alone as we are blessed to have a large, close family and a wonderful network of friends.
Ginger Michelle McNally (Kleinfelter), 47, of Harrisburg, PA- loving mother, wife, daughter, aunt, sister, friend- found peace with our Lord on December 17, 2015, after a brief but courageous battle with acute myoblastic leukemia.
Ginger was born on January 5, 1968, a daughter of Marlene Cline and Ernie Kleinfelter. Ginger was strong in her faith in God and is remembered for her beautiful smile, her kindness and gentle nature. Most important to Ginger was being a mother to her three children. Ginger volunteered at Northside Elementary School and was involved with the PTA, served as a Den Mother to Cub Scout Pack 256, enjoyed watching her children participate in activities through scouting, Linglestown baseball, CDABA, and dance. Ginger was a member at Holy Name of Jesus Church.
She is survived by her loving husband, John, and their three adoring children JJ, Meghan, and Joe, her parents- Marlene Cline (Dale) and Ernie Kleinfelter (Elaine), her sister- Kim Evans, brother- Matt Kleinfelter, many nieces and nephews, and the family dog, Macy.
