Touched by family members who bravely battled and beat blood cancers, we felt the need to give back to the organization that helped our loved ones during the most difficult time of their lives. We also realized that our rural community of Southern Maryland has been instrumental in shaping our futures and that of our entire family. Therefore, we wanted to develop a community event that would allow families to get together, enjoy the fresh air, and raise awareness and funds for a good cause.

Samsara is the Sanskrit word symbolizing the cycle of birth and rebirth. We wanted to create a group that would support The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and its mission to give “new life” to those affected by blood cancers.  Our team, Fly4aCure, is proud to support LLS and all those who battle blood cancers.

LLS's continued advancements over the years, are responsible for the blood cancer survival rate doubling and tripling; in some cases, the survival rate has even quadrupled.

And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers. They're even being tested in clinical trials for patients with a range of cancers including lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. LLS funded drugs are now being tested for patients with other non-cancerous diseases like Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Multiple Sclerosis.

Our team aims to raise $200,000!  In order to do that, we need your help. We can’t start collecting donations until February 3, 2018.  However, there are many ways to support us in our efforts to cure blood cancer right now. We are currently accepting pledges from Corporations and Small Businesses in our community to help support our efforts.

On February 3, we begin accepting donations for Team Fly4aCure. Please consider making a cash, check, or credit donation during the campaign, February 3 - March 23, 2018. Our website link that will accept credit cards will be sent out shortly.  Please note: your donations are tax deductible. Please share this site to all your friends and families who may be interested in making a donation to this great cause.

Also, we will be hosting a major fundraising event during that time period. The Annual Fly4aCure Kite Festival will be held on March 17, 2018 at the St Mary’s Fairgrounds. This family friendly event will allow all of us to come together, fly kites and celebrate a cause worth fighting for. In addition, we are planning a special recognition ceremony for those of our community who have been touched by blood cancer.  Entertainment, music, food, and fun awaits.
