Please join me in supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) by making a donation to my Students of the Year fundraising campaign. Thanks to your support, my efforts, will help fund the therapies and treatments and help save lives today.

Last year, during my junior year in high school, I was introduced to a young, energetic girl, named Ashlyn Brysiak, who had been diagnosed with Leukemia in June 2016. As an avid soccer fan and player herself, Ashlyn was named as the honorary captain of the East Pennsboro High School Girls Soccer team for the 2016 and 2017 season – a team for which I was a member for several years. Ashlyn’s drive and courage in the face of battling cancer was an inspiration to our entire team, and it helped fuel a drive that led our team to become one of the most decorated in the region and the most successful soccer team in our school’s history. In the time since joining the East Pennsboro soccer family, Ashlyn and I have forged a special bond. Having the opportunity to watch her battle Leukemia and continue to push herself in a positive manner no matter how poorly she felt, I have been inspired to give back and help her raise awareness in the fight against this awful disease. With this in mind, I have volunteered to run as part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s “Student of the Year” series – a fundraising campaign led by students throughout our region to support efforts to battle blood cancers like the form of Leukemia that Ashlyn is fighting.

Students of the Year is a philanthropic leadership development program for exemplary high school students from across Central Pennsylvania. For seven weeks, myself and my fellow teammates are tasked to utlize our professional skills such as entrepreneaurship, marketing, and project management in order to motivate our communities to invest in the mission of LLS. I am honored to be a part of this team to raise funds and awareness for the hundreds of patients in Central PA living with blood cancer.

LLS's continued advancements over the years, are responsible for the blood cancer survival rate doubling and tripling; in some cases, the survival rate has even quadrupled.

And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers. They're even being tested in clinical trials for patients with a range of cancers including lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. LLS funded drugs are now being tested for patients with other non-cancerous diseases like Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Multiple Sclerosis.
